As we have said -- getting to Drake Bay is easy! Drake is the easiest out of the way, remote place on the planet to reach. How you get there will depend on what you want to see in Costa Rica.

The easiest way to reach Drake Bay is to fly. You can fly direct from San Jose on one of the seven daily flights to and from San Jose. The flights start in the early AM and run through the afternoon:

I would only rent a car if you plan on venturing out on your own. All the local hotels can make travel arrangements for you to and from activities and local taxis are inexpensive.

If you are going to visit other places in Costa Rica, my suggestion is to fly into Drake, rent your car there and travel by road out of Drake. Until you get out to the Pan American highway, parts will be very bumpy.
